Racism on the Runway?

8:48 PM

Last Thursday, former model and activist, Bethann Hardison penned a letter to the governing bodies (CFDA, Fédération Française de la Couture, British Fashion Council andCamera Nazionale della Moda Italiana) of Fashion Weeks in NYC, addressing the racism on the runways.  This isn't the first time I have heard this come up but the lengths being taken by Bethann, with the support and assistance of Naomi Campbell and Iman, is bound to get a real reaction.

In 2008, Bethann held several town halls addressing this same issue and Vogue Italia responded by placing Naomi Campbell on the "All Black" July Issue. The infamous trio want it to be known that by no means are they calling designers racist but the act of not using diverse models is racist.
