Thrifty Shopping

I have recently entered the world of thrifting. I know I am a bit behind. And I say that because when I blog, I see that some chicks have been doing this for quite sometime. I use to think that there was absolutely nothing that I would want in a thrift store or the Goodwill, even though I use to work in a thrift store. I still have some issues with the pricing that Goodwill has because I am a SHOPPER! What that means is that, I can find certain things, brand new for cheaper than what the Goodwill is selling it for. A co-worker told me that the ridiculous pricing at some of the Goodwill stores in our area is due to a feature on the news that basically let the cat out of the bag in regards to how much certain things are really worth. FREAKING LOSERS!!

I was at a Goodwill store and found two Banana Republic leather jackets, in my size, for $90 each!! How ridiculous is that???? At the Goodwill??? I dont think so! I can get two brand new, never been worn leather jackets for $90. With all the sales going on, its VERY possible. I have 3 leather jackets that I purchased from Target a while back, and the total for all 3 dont amount to $90. Two of them were $20 and the other was $13! Real Leather!!! So you can imagine what was going through my mind when I saw the price.

Since then I have been searching for online thrift stores and have been introduced to two good sites. The first is shopgoodwill.com. It is comprised of merchandise from Goodwills across the United States. But, the biggest contributor is the Orange County, CA Goodwill. So you know what that means. Upscale items for cheap, cheap, cheap! The only difference is, you bid on these items like you would on ebay. Christian-Michaels found great items on their site. The other is
Housing Works. I have been informed that many celebrities donate their clothes to their many New York locations. Some items are up for bid but most you can purchase outright. You can find Gucci, Manolo, Badgley Mischka, and Louboutin. I havent made any purchase from them yet, but I definitely intend to.

So, dont knock it until you try it. You can find excellent vintage pieces and sometimes brand new items with the tags still attached. Chic!!
